This laboratory is dedicated for experiment as well as simulation in the area of Fiber Optic Communication Transmission Systems and Optical Networks. This lab is equipped with state-of-art components, instruments, and softwares (given below) mainly for WDM transmission, optical networks, and all-optical signal processing having up to 12.5 Gbps of bit rate.

RF & Microwave Lab

RF and Microwave Lab is currently equipped with two softwares: 1. Ansys HFSS, a finite element based software for simulating RF and microwave circuits and systems. 2. CoventorWare software for analysing the mechanical, thermal, and electrostatic behaviour and actuation of MicroEletroMechanical Systems (MEMS). The two softwares are installed on a Fujitsu workstation with 12 GB RAM. With the help these two softwares, the lab is currently engaged in designing and analysing RF MEMS based switches, filters and phase shifters, which will be used to enhance wireless communication. The lab is in the process of procuring a spectrum analyzer with tracking generator and a signal generator, both upto 3 GHz for testing the RF MEMS devices which will be fabricated.

Signal Processing for Wireless Communications Lab

This Laboratory is dedicated for experiment and simulation in the field of wireless communications. Research areas include blind receiver design for single carrier and multi carrier signals where all the parameters such as symbol rate, carrier frequency, symbol timing offset and frequency offset are estimated blindly, cooperative communications, cognitive radios, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), multiple input multiple output(MIMO). National Instruments (NI) chassis PXIe-1085 and LabView are available to the lab to design several types wireless communications systems.
