HOW TO SUBMIT SAMPLES
For the analysis of your sample(s), you may send them by post along with a covering letter from the Head / Guide, on your College/Institute Original Letter Head, demand draft and requisition form for the use of respective instrument. The letter should be addressed to The Head, SAIF, IIT Patna. You can also submit samples directly in person. Please contact SO SAIF before visiting SAIF IIT Patna so that you can save your time.

- Your slot for respective sample analysis will be confirmed through email.
- If Samples are received without covering letter/DD, the samples will not be analysed.Separate sample should be sent for different analysis.
- Interpretation of spectra/data is not undertaken normally. In special cases this service can be provided on payment on extra charges.
- As soon as the analysis is over, the spectra/data along with the receipt / bill will be sent to the users.
- If you want samples back please mention in your letter.
Kindly collect your samples back at the time of collecting your data. Samples which are not collected within a week from the date of data collected /sample analysis will be disposed of immediately without any further notice.
Note
As per the guidelines of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), in all publications of research work, where in the analytical services of the SAIF have been made use of, the DST and the SAIF, IIT Patna shall be duly acknowledged. Kindly send us the publication reference (Journal name/volume number/names of the authors/date of issue of the publication etc) to us.
A list of charges for measurements, as fixed by the Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi, is taken. Please note that:
- The charges mentioned for analysis of samples are received from users within India only.
- For abroad users, please contact SAIF by Email directly.

Terms and conditions for the bulk measurements Type 2:
- Bulk measurements can be booked either in institute/department level or individual user level.
- The user side will provide fellow/manpower equivalent to a researcher (minimum qualification needed is M.Sc or B.Tech) who will assist Scientific Officer, SAIF, IITP (or responsible SAIF, IITP personal) during the measurements. For one bulk booking only one person will be allowed for assistance.
- SAIF, IITP will provide the researchers necessary training without any additional cost beforehand (at least for 2 -3 days).
- SAIF, IITP will not responsible for travel and accommodation of the researcher. SAIF, IITP also not provide any additional fellowship or similar announces for such assistance.
- The outside users may avail IITP guesthouse facility (depends on the availability) on self-finance with the approval of competent authority.
- The booking will be valid for 12 months. (Will be extended in case the machine is not available or not in working condition within the timeframe).
- The user can do all samples at one time or at different time intervals. The time will be allotted to the users as per the availability.

Note: In case of hourly basis, user has to provide deuterated solvents for liquid probe.
- The solvent charges are subject to revision depending upon the procurement price of the same.
- Users are strongly advised to check the solubility of the samples before sending the same to us for NMR measurements to avoid wastage.
- In liquid state the data can be collected from room temperature to +120ºC range (for VT-HT experiment).
- In solid state the data can be collected with maximum rotation speed 10kHz.
- Charges mentioned here are excluding GST. Please add 18 % GST along with the charges as per Government Regulation.
- If the time exceeds for the specialized experiment as per user instruction, every additional experiment/time (1hour additional time) will be charged thereof with Rs. 1000/-or academic institutes, Rs. 3000/- for R&D and National Labs and Rs. 5000/- for Industries.
- Sample requirement:
For solution state NMR- For 1H: 5-10mg, for rest nuclei: 15-25 mg
For solid state NMR: 60-100 mg
