The National Sports Organisation (NSO) is a prestigious initiative by the Government of India aimed at promoting athletic and sporting activities among the nation's youth. This program is integral to premier institutes like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), fostering a culture of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
Students have the opportunity to train with skilled coaches in various sports, ensuring holistic development—academically, physically, and mentally.
The NSO program at IIT Patna offers a diverse array of sports including:
Students must complete 40 hours of sessions each semester, totalling 80 hours by the end of their first year. Two sessions per week, each lasting 1.5 hours, provide comprehensive training, skill improvement, and foster a love for sports.
Students can choose their preferred sport, with allocation based on preference and availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year, the NSO program will accommodate 500 students.
