Indian Institute of Technology Patna and Geotropik, Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia are organizing an “International Conference on Geotechnical Issues in Energy, Infrastructure and Disaster Management (ICGEID-2024)” in January 2024.
Geotechnical inputs play a critical role in the planning, designing and excavation of slopes,mines, tunnels, sustainable energy systems and other sub-terranean facilities. In order to meet the ever-increasing demand of the market, large energy infrastructure projects are being planned and executed in diverse and challenging conditions. Tunnels are being constructed to meet the requirements of diverse disciplines such as irrigation, transportation, etc., At present large number of tunnelling projects are ongoing in different parts of the globe to create more efficient facilities for humanity. Prime amongst them being metros, hydel power projects, large sub-terran and storage facilities (for storage of inflammable liquids such as petroleum products and by-products), defense applications etc., Energy Geotechnics integrates concepts from geotechnical engineering and geomechanics with cross-disciplinary collaborations with geology, hydrology, geophysics, geochemistry, petroleum engineering, and energy policy. Given the tough geo-conditions, where these projects are being executed, Geotechnical Engineers face challenges of unknown dimensions.
ICGEID-2024 aims to present a platform for all leading visionaries, researchers, academicians, and industry experts to address the current and future geotechnical challenges for development of energy, infrastructure and disaster management projects.

About Indian Institute of Technology Patna
Indian Institute of Technology Patna is one of the new IITs established by an Act of the Indian Parliament on August 06, 2008 with an intake capacity of 120 B.Tech. student’s in 3 branches.
Patna which was known as Patliputra has been a center of knowledge since long has been attracting visitors and scholars from many parts of the world such as China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, among others. This has been a land of visionaries. Some of the legends from this region include Lord Gautam Buddha, Lord Mahavir, Guru Gobind Singh, the famous astronomer Aryabhatta and the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
IIT Patna has ten departments. These are Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Humanities & Social Science departments. The Institute has developed modern facilities that are fully equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities (equipment software and machines).
